Man in hospital after stab attack

A man is being treated in hospital after being stabbed in a street in Greater Manchester.

Police were called to the incident on Broadoak Road in Ashton on Thursday evening. The 31-year-old victim was found with a stab wound to the chest.

He was taken to Tameside General Hospital by paramedics, where he remains in a stable condition.

A 33-year-old man from Ashton has been arrested in connection with the incident and will be questioned later.

Alt Road at the junction of Bromley Crescent and Timperley Road up to Gambrel Bank Road has been closed as part of inquiries into the attack.
