Katona held captive by armed gang

Kerry Katona Armed robbers held a knife to the neck of former pop star Kerry Katona during a raid on her Cheshire home.

Three masked men, carrying sledgehammers and crowbars, broke into the home she shares with husband Mark Croft in Wilmslow on Sunday night.

They kept the former Atomic Kitten and the couple's baby Heidi downstairs as they took Mr Croft around the house looking for things to steal.

Cheshire police said the gang escaped with goods worth about £150,000.

That included a BMW M5 sports car with the registration WF06 KMM, two laptops, two gaming machines and two televisions, including a 42-inch plasma screen, and jewellery.

"Luckily they weren't hurt, but Kerry was held at knifepoint and the robbers threatened to kill them"

Mr Croft was secured in a room with Katona and Heidi while the robbers got away.

Katona has two other daughters, Molly and Lilly-Sue, by her former husband, Westlife singer Brian McFadden.

However, the girls were not in the house at the time.

Celebrity Mum

Katona left Atomic Kitten in 2001 and went on to win the reality TV programme I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2004.

She separated from McFadden later that year and married Mr Croft earlier this year at Gretna Green.

The 26-year-old was named Celebrity Mum of Year in 2002 and 2005 and now writes about other celebrities in her regular column in OK! Magazine.

She has also appeared in a string of adverts for the Iceland store chain and two years ago she starred in an ITV1 show called My Fair Kerry where she was taught deportment and etiquette to transform her from ladette to lady.

Katona's publicist, Max Clifford, has said she was in a "terrible state."

"When I spoke to her this morning she was in floods of tears and absolutely distraught.

"It was a terrifying experience. Luckily they weren't hurt, but Kerry was held at knifepoint and the robbers threatened to kill them.

"It was such a horrible thing to happen.

"They are staying with family now and I'm not sure when they will go back to the house."

Mark Croft

Katona and her husband have yet to be interviewed by police officers, a force spokesman said.

He added that it was not possible to say how the property had been broken into until formal statements had been taken.

Three CCTV cameras could be seen at the front of the house, but there were no visible signs of any break-in.
