Man charged over pensioner death

A man has been charged over the death of a pensioner who was knocked down in Greater Manchester.

Harold Watson, 81, from Atherton, died when he was hit by a Citroen Saxo in Church Street, Westhoughton, on 23 December last year.

David Griffin, 59, of Astley Bridge, Bolton, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving without due care and attention.

He is due to appear before Bolton magistrates on Friday.
