Pedestrian, 78, hit by car dies

A 78-year-old man who was hit by a car in Stockport, Greater Manchester, has died in hospital.

The pensioner - who has not been named - was struck by a Vauxhall Vivaro on Thursday morning.

He was taken to Stepping Hill Hospital where he was treated for head injuries, but died on Friday morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident which happened on Adswood Road at its junction with Rostrevor Road at about 1130 BST.
