Man robbed as he goes to buy milk

A 71-year-old man has been attacked and robbed as he went to a petrol station to buy milk.

When he arrived at Belle Vue petrol station on Hyde Road, another man was arguing with staff, Greater Manchester Police said.

The man turned and punched the elderly man in the face. As the victim tried to get away the robber pushed him to the ground and stole £300 from his wallet.

The victim was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The offender is described as being around 6ft (1.8m) tall, of very thin build with short dark hair.

Police said the incident happened around 0400 BST and have appealed for witnesses to contact detectives or Crimestoppers.
