Man hit and killed by city tram

A 34-year-old man has been hit and killed by a tram in Manchester.

Police were called on Monday evening to the Metrolink stop near the GMEX centre after reports that a tram had hit someone on the tracks.

The incident happened just after 2140 BST as the tram was travelling into the city between Cornbrook and the GMEX stops.

The body of the man was found on the track. Police do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances.
