Body found in missing man search

Simon Penk, image courtesy of Greater Manchester Police Police searching for a man who has been missing from his home for nearly six months have found a decomposed body.

Simon Penk, 36, disappeared after going out to buy food from a store near his home in Beech Hill, Wigan, Greater Manchester, on 8 May.

Officers have stressed that the body found in a wooded coppice off Prescott Street has yet to be identified.

Forensic examinations are being carried out and a post-mortem examination will be held later in the week.

Greater Manchester Police said investigations were continuing to establish whether the death was suspicious.
