12 cars seized in body shop raid

Twelve stolen cars worth £500,000 have been recovered in a police and customs raid on a car body shop and scrap yard in Rochdale on Tuesday.

Hundreds of stolen car parts, an illegal alcohol bottling plant, 600,000 cigarettes plus large quantities of tobacco and fireworks were also seized.

Greater Manchester Police said 10 people were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen property.

Three are being questioned and seven were freed pending further inquiries.

Officers have sealed off H and I Motor Body Shop and an associated scrap yard.

They are expected to continue searching the premises on Thursday.
