Man faces baby son murder charge

A 40-year-old man has been accused of the murder of his three-month-old son and assaulting the boy's twin sister.

The man, who has not been named, was arrested after the boy died from head injuries a day after being admitted to Kings College Hospital last October.

The man from Erith, south-east London, was charged with the boy's murder and grievous bodily harm towards the girl.

The man has appeared at Bexley Magistrates' Court. He will appear next at the Old Bailey on 21 October.

A woman, 37, was released with no further action.

The woman, who was initially held on suspicion of GBH and allowing or causing the death of a child, and the man were arrested on 28 October.

The infant died in the south London hospital on 25 October last year from serious head injuries. He was admitted the night before.
