Property belonging to the Queen's granddaughter Zara Phillips has been handed in to police after her handbag was stolen from her car.

Jewellery was missing but her passport was recovered after the bag was found in a hedge near the scene of the theft.

Scotland Yard said the theft occurred on Thursday afternoon in North Kensington, west London.

"Property from the vehicle was found in the street and handed in to police," a Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said.
