Gas leak closes Parliament roads

A gas leak in Millbank, central London, led to road closures around the Houses of Parliament.

A National Grid spokeswoman said that the leak caused the evacuation of two buildings in Millbank while engineers worked to fix the problem.

The leak was fixed and Millbank, from the Houses of Parliament to Lambeth, Bridge was due to reopen at 1500 GMT.

People who work in numbers four and seven Millbank will not be allowed back in the buildings until Friday.

The spokeswoman said people who work in the buildings will be allowed in briefly to gather personal belongings.
