Man accused of footballer murder

Oliver Kingonzila

An 18-year-old man has been charged with murdering Oliver Kingonzila, who was stabbed to death in south London.

Mr Kingonzila, 19, was found with stab wounds outside the E Bar in Croydon early on Saturday morning. He died in hospital shortly afterwards.

Triston Burke, from Croydon, will appear before Croydon magistrates on Wednesday charged with his murder.

Oliver was a midfielder with League Two side Barnet and had recently captained the England Colleges team.

His mother described him as "gentle", "very loving, very kind" and flowers and tributes to Oliver were laid where he was stabbed.

Another 18-year-old man was arrested then bailed until late September pending further inquiries.
