Two armed men hold up McDonald's

Two men wearing crash helmets have staged an armed robbery at a branch of McDonald's in south-east London.

One stood guard at the front door of the fast-food restaurant on Bromley Common, with what police think was a revolver-type pistol in a plastic bag.

The other went behind the counter, threatened a staff member with a knife and made him open the safe and till.

A girl of nine was among the 28 people in the restaurant when the robbery took place on Saturday at 2100 BST.

The Flying Squad is investigating. Police did not say how much money was taken.

Both suspects were described as black and wearing black footwear.

Det Con Toby Grigg said the robbery had happened on one of the main roads in the area and appealed for witnesses to come forward.

It was "very dangerous" to take weapons to a restaurant "where the suspects would have known there were likely to be children", he added.

Second robbery

Descriptions have also been issued of three suspects in an armed robbery in Tottenham Hale on Monday evening.

A gun and a knife were waved as three men, wearing balaclavas, black zip-up tops and black jogging bottoms, entered the Asli Supermarket on Walton Road.

A male employee was threatened by the man holding the gun.

Cash was stolen from the till and cigarettes and alcohol were also taken in the raid, at approximately 2200 BST.

The suspects were black, aged about 20, between 5ft 10ins (1.78m) and 6ft 1in (1.85m) in height, police said.
