A man has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of a 17-year-old stabbed to death in south London.

Steven Braithwaite, 30, of no fixed address, appeared before Sutton magistrates accused of murdering Nilanthan Murddi in Croydon.

Nilanthan died from a single stab wound to the throat in Sumner Road, on Saturday morning.

The case was adjourned until 27 November when Mr Braithwaite will appear at the Old Bailey.
