Boy, 13, in court over firearms

A 13-year-old boy charged with possessing a converted handgun and ammunition has appeared in court.

The teenager, who was arrested during a police raid on a house in New Cross, south-east London, appeared at Balham Youth Court on Wednesday.

Police said they found a 9mm converted Baikal firearm, two silencers and a bag of 20 cartridges.

The teenager was remanded in custody and will appear at the Inner London Crown Court on 27 August.
