Boy suspect bailed over stabbing

scene of attack in Guildford Road, South Lambeth

A 16-year-old boy arrested over the fatal stabbing of an 18-year-old has been released on bail.

The suspect was arrested at his home in Brixton, south London, hours after the murder of the 18-year-old male in Guildford Road, Stockwell, on Thursday.

Post-mortem tests showed he died from a single stab wound to the heart. He is the 21st teenager to die violently in London this year.

The 16-year-old has been bailed to return to police next month.

Police believe the victim was attacked by up to eight males who were described as wearing hooded tops and had bikes.

Friends of the man said he may have been attacked over a minor insult during a water fight at the Holland Park fair.
