Fresh arrest over student deaths

Detectives investigating the killings of two French students have arrested a man following an urgent appeal for information about his whereabouts.

Officers arrested Daniel Sonnex, 23, at an address in Peckham, south-east London, following the deaths of Gabriel Ferez and Laurent Bonomo on 29 June.

The bodies of the students, both 23, were found in a bedsit in New Cross, south-east London.

Nigel Farmer, 33, of no fixed address, has been charged with their murders.

He was also charged with arson and attempting to pervert the course of justice and was remanded in custody by Greenwich magistrates.

He is due to appear at the Old Bailey on 16 October.

Police are continuing to question a man aged 35 and a woman aged 25 over the deaths on 29 June.
