TV presenter 'had memorial plans'

Missing TV presenter Mark Speight was planning a charity concert as a tribute to his fiancee who died three months ago, according to his best friend.

Stu Goldsmith said the concert was to raise funds for a charity which Natasha Collins had supported.

Miss Collins died in the bath after taking drugs at the north London flat she shared with Mr Speight, 42.

Mr Speight was reported missing on Monday and last seen boarding a Tube train in north London the same day.

Mr Goldsmith, 42, who has known the presenter since they met at school in Wolverhampton, said they had discussed the concert in the weeks before his disappearance.

He said: "Mark had been talking to Natasha's mum about a big show to raise money for one of her favourite charities.

"I just hope the thought of organising it in Natasha's memory will make him snap back to reality and come back."

Mr Goldsmith, who saw the couple last year, said: "They were the perfect couple and he adored her.

"Mark has a sensitive side and what he has gone through is enough to push anyone over the top.

Mr Speight was caught on CCTV at Queen's Park Tube station boarding a southbound Bakerloo line train at 1457 BST on Monday.

Miss Collins' mother alerted police when he failed to meet her, as planned, in Covent Garden that afternoon.

Last week an inquest found that Miss Collins died when she fell into a scalding bath after taking cocaine, sleeping pills and alcohol.

Mr Speight was initially arrested on suspicion of murder and supplying Class A drugs over her death, but police brought no charges.
