Man charged over student's murder

Michael Alexander Jones A civil servant has been charged with the murder of a student found beaten and stabbed to death in his home.

Michael Alexander Jones, 18, was found dead at his home in Edmonton, north London, last Thursday.

A post-mortem examination revealed he died from severe head injuries and a stab wound to the chest.

Tony Paul, 45, from Gilbert Street, Enfield, north London, will appear at Enfield Magistrates' Court on Saturday, charged with murder.

Mr Jones, who was studying geography at Queen Mary, University of London, wanted to be a town planner or a teacher, his mother Kathleen Kirby-Jones said.

Earlier this week, Ms Kirby-Jones paid tribute to her "considerate and loving son", who she found dead in the computer room of their house.

Detectives are still appealing for help in tracing some of his personal possessions which are missing from the family home.

They include a gold chain, a ring and a pair of glasses.
