London tops city transport poll

Tube train World travellers have voted London the best city for public transport, for the second year running.

London also topped the poll, by holiday review site TripAdvisor, for having the safest public transport, best subway or Metro system, and the best taxis.

Travellers also considered London to have the most costly transport system.

The UK capital was considered to have the fourth cleanest transport system, with Washington DC first, Tokyo second and Paris third.

New York was runner-up to London as having the best public transport as well as being the second most expensive city for public transport behind London.

Los Angeles came out as having the worst public transport system.

TripAdvisor communications director Michele Perry said: "It's proof that even when it comes to riding a bus or a subway, you get what you pay for."
