Bomb survivor's stalker is caught

London bombings survivor Rachel North A survivor of the 7 July London bombings has welcomed the arrest of a woman who waged a hate campaign against her over the internet.

Rachel North, 36, gave up her job to campaign for an independent inquiry.

But Felicity Jane Lowde, 41, used her own blog and e-mail to harass Ms North, accusing her of "making a living on the backs of the dead".

After going on the run, Lowde was caught in a cafe in Whitechapel, east London, following a tip-off.

She is now on remand after being convicted of harassment in her absence when she failed to appear in court.

Wanted posters

Ms North said she did not want to comment on the case until after Lowde has been sentenced. She said she feared Lowde may appeal.

But in a blog she said it was time to forget the "horrible business" and move on.

She said: "For me, I don't feel like dancing. I am just thankful this is over, (or almost over, because I am sure Lowde will try to appeal when she is sentenced.)"

Two police forces investigated the case and Lowde was charged under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

When she went on the run, Ms North used her blog, known as Rachel from North London, to launch an online hunt.

Virtual "wanted" posters were put up on blogs around the world and messages of support and advice flooded in.

Lowde will be sentenced at Thames Magistrates' Court on 28 June.
