A man who killed a wealthy restaurateur by wrapping her face in 70ft (21m) of parcel tape has been jailed for life.
Sun Choy, 39, admitted murdering Yuk Ying Phuah, 42, during a robbery at her home in Wembley, north London, on the second day of his Old Bailey trial.
Choy, formerly of Eltham, south-east London, fled to Holland following Mrs Phuah's death in August 2003.
The judge said Choy must serve a minimum of 20 years, which includes a 12-year sentence for robbery.
Judge William McKinnon described the murder as "a cold-blooded brutal summary execution of Mrs Yuk Ying Phuah".
He said Choy was a very dangerous man who until the last moment tried to avoid any responsibility for his actions.
William Boyce, prosecuting, previously told the court: "Anyone who has 21-and-a-half metres of this tape bound round their face in this manner cannot possibly live.
"The only possible outcome is to kill them."
Mrs Phuah died from suffocation during the robbery at her semi-detached home in Meadow Way, where £2,000 were stolen.
Her body was found covered by a sleeping bag in a lay-by on the A20 Sidcup bypass in Kent.
The court heard that Choy, a Malaysian national with £20,000 of gambling debts, had already borrowed money from the family.
After his extradition to England in April last year, he admitted manslaughter.
But on the second day of his trial he changed his plea and admitted murder.
Det Insp Paul Astbury, leading the inquiry, described the killing as an "horrific and callous murder" by a man Mrs Phuah knew and helped.
He thanked the Chinese communities in Malaysia and particularly London for the help and support in the investigation.
