A 19-month-old boy has died after a stolen Jeep crashed into his pushchair in south-east London.
Two 14-year-old boys were arrested after the crash in Rolls Road, Southwark, when a stolen green Jeep Wrangler hit a tree and then the child.
The injured boy died in an east London hospital following the crash, after which the occupants of the Jeep fled.
His mother was carrying a baby boy in her arms, who received a bump on the head in the incident.
One youth was detained by police close to the scene of the crash, while the other was arrested late on Friday night at a house in Southwark. Both are being held in custody at south London police stations.
The injured baby - thought to be only a few weeks old - was taken to hospital but later discharged. His mother was uninjured.
'Gentle family'
Two of the three suspects were described as white, aged between 14 and 18, and between 5ft 5ins to 5ft 8ins tall.
One was wearing navy tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie, while the other was wearing a light coloured tracksuit. The other youth was Asian.
The family of the victim live on the road running parallel to the scene of the accident.
A neighbour, Angel Jappie, 29, said : "They are a very gentle, very soft family, they were quiet.
"The baby was born just three weeks ago. I remember them getting back from the hospital."
She said gangs of youths very often speed around in stolen cars on estates near Rolls Road.
The dead toddler's family was "devastated", a woman claiming to be a friend of the family said.
"She (the mother) was so upset. They were just coming home from school and her little boy has been killed," she said.
