Two men charged over weapons haul

Some of the guns seized Two men have been charged with firearms offences after a large haul of guns and ammunition was seized by police.

Armed officers stopped a car on Monday and found a holdall containing a number of semi-automatic handguns, silencers and 748 rounds of ammunition.

Anthony Magee, 43, of Kentish Town, north-west London, and Gerald Smith, 46, from West Hampstead, are due to appear in court on Wednesday.

The hearing will take place at West London Magistrates' Court.

Police said the seizure followed a major "intelligence-led operation" between the Metropolitan Police's Central Task Force and HM Revenue and Customs.
