Pedigree dogs taken in car theft

Thieves who stole a Volkswagen Beetle from central London discovered two pedigree dogs in the back.

The Pekingese dogs were in the vehicle when it was taken from Mount Street in Mayfair on Wednesday.

Police said the car, registration HY02 0SF, was stolen at about 1500 GMT and have appealed for witnesses.

A spokesman said the owner was distraught and was pleading with anyone who has seen the dogs, which have long light brown hair, to come forward.
