Tram services should be extended across south London to help regenerate the area, according to a new lobby group.
Lambeth Council and the South London Partnership have created the South London Trams group to call for the expansion of Croydon Tramlink.
Almost 20 million passengers use the service - which connects to seven mainline stations, Wimbledon Tube station and 50 bus routes - annually.
The group wants it extended to Tooting, Crystal Palace, Sutton and Streatham.
Christine Seaman, Director of the South London Partnership, said: "As south London is only served by about 10% of London Underground, it is very dependent upon mainline rail services and car usage.
"The tram provides an ideal alternative form of public transport for Londoners. It is fast, safe, reliable and accessible."
A National Audit Office report recently praised Croydon Tramlink for being at the lower end of the public transport price range as well as helping to cut road accidents and attracting investment in the area.
