Copyright block on Millwall chant

The club had recorded players and fans singing the ode to player-manager Dennis Wise, to the tune of "Volare".

It hoped to use it as the official Cup Final release, in time for its 22 May match against Manchester United.

But music giant EMI own the rights to Volare and Millwall say the company has refused to grant permission to use it.

"We're hopeful they will change their minds but they haven't done so yet," said the club's chief executive Ken Brown.

'No decision made'

"We're considering all our options and whether there is enough time to record another song."

An EMI spokesman said no decision had been made on whether the song could be used or not.

The 1950s song was a chart release for Dean Martin and has also been an entry in the Eurovision Song Contest.

It has been used by Arsenal fans to sing the praises of captain Patrick Vieira.

But Millwall fans used it to refer to Mr Wise's clash with former Leicester team-mate Callum Davidson, who fractured his cheekbone during an incident on a pre-season tour.

In March, Wise won his appeal for unfair dismissal against Leicester City.
