Deal reached over park's future

Hubbards Hills

The future of a Lincolnshire beauty spot looks more certain after a dispute over its upkeep was settled.

Hubbards Hills in Louth was facing closure after East Lindsey District Council said they would be handing it over to the town council.

However, officials from the town said they could not afford the annual £35,000 maintenance bill.

But now both parties have said they will contribute to a charitable trust which will look after the park.

The trust will organise the park's management and work to attract funding for its future.

The district council added it would also continue to fund improvements to the beauty spot's shelters until it was handed over to the trust.

Opened in 1907, Hubbards Hills is a 35-acre, partly wooded park, with play areas, a car park and cafe.
