Fatal bike crash man is cleared

A Lincolnshire man has been cleared of causing the death of his best friend in a drunken motorcycle accident.

Neil Kersey, 27, from Hope Street in Lincoln, had been drinking with Richard Lamb, 25, in Bassingham in April 2007.

Lincoln Crown Court heard how they rode off with Mr Lamb in front but the prosecution alleged the pair swapped places before the crash.

The jury took 35 minutes to clear Mr Kersey of causing death by careless driving while over the alcohol limit.

The court heard how neither man was wearing a helmet when they left.

Mr Kersey said he had no memory of the final bike ride or the accident.

Mr Lamb suffered severe head injuries when the bike crashed into a hedge and he died in hospital three days later.
