Police warning after burglaries

Police in Lincolnshire have urged people to be vigilant following a spate of burglaries.

Officers said they were investigating a series of break-ins that took place in the Market Deeping and Deeping St James areas of the county.

In most cases the thieves had gained access through a back door or rear windows which had been left unlocked, police said.

Stolen items included handbags, bank cards, laptops and mobile phones.

PCSO Karen Dobson said: "Before settling down for the night make sure all property is out of sight and secure.

"All of the items that have been taken during these burglaries are pretty easy to conceal and sell on.

"This time of year can be extremely lucrative for thieves and we advise keeping Christmas gifts well out of sight."
