Work under way on ice rink site

More than 2,000 people have already booked their place to skate on a temporary ice rink up in Lincoln.

Work began on Monday on the attraction in the city centre.

The rink will be officially opened in the City Square on 27 November and will remain open until 4 January with the exception of Christmas Day.

Michael Armstrong from the Lincoln Business Improvement Group said there would be a lot of preliminary work to do to make the ground level.

He said: "People would think that it's a flat surface that we're working on.

"There's quite a dip in the surface so temporary flooring (has) to be put down first of all... And from there they would start putting the machinery and plants you need for the fridges and for the ice-making machine."
