College building plans unveiled

Proposed Boston College building

Plans have been revealed for a new £79m building and campus for Boston College in Lincolnshire.

The facilities would be built on the college's existing Skirbeck Road site and could be open by 2012 if they are given planning permission.

Principal Sue Daley said the development would be a great boost for the town.

Mrs Daley said the building would replace the current Skirbeck and Mill Road facilities.

The plans also include a tower restaurant with views overlooking Boston.

Architects said the plans were influenced by the town's nautical heritage, with "sail" and "wave" themes included in the design.

Mrs Daley said: "What we really want is state-of-the-art industrial facilities for all our learners."

The college is bidding for funding for the project from the Learning and Skills Council.
