RAF bases are to be scaled back
A Lincolnshire RAF station is to close and another is to be scaled back, it has been confirmed.
Operations at RAF Scampton, currently the base of the Red Arrows, are being reduced and RAF Kirton-in-Lindsey will shut, the Ministry of Defence said.
Their control centres will be removed and replaced with an air defence centre at RAF Coningsby by 2014.
An MoD spokesman 37 civilian jobs would be "affected". The level of facilities left at Scampton has yet to be decided.
The Red Arrows are due to move to RAF Waddington in 2011.
