House blaze tests 'inconclusive'

Scene of fire

Police in Lincolnshire investigating a fire at a house in which a woman died say initial forensic tests have been inconclusive.

The blaze broke out on Thursday evening at a property in Willingham Road in Lea near Gainsborough.

Officers have not yet been able to establish the exact cause of the fire and have re-appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

House-to-house inquiries have been carried out in the area.

The alarm was initially raised after neighbours reported hearing a loud bang. Three fire engines were called to the fire, a spokeswoman said.

The building was badly damaged and the woman's body was found inside. A fire investigation team is due to visit the scene which is still cordoned off.

The woman has not yet been named by police.
