Man in hospital after sea rescue

A man and his young daughter have been rescued after getting into difficulties off the Lincolnshire coast.

They had been floating on an inflatable off Ingoldmells Point near Skegness when it began to drift out to sea, coastguard officials said.

The man jumped off the vessel and tried to pull it back to the shore, but the tide and wind "was too much for him".

A coastguard spokesperson said he was dragged underwater for about a minute before being rescued by onlookers.

He was airlifted to hospital. His seven-year-old daughter was shaken but uninjured and was treated at the scene.
