Plan for fire-hit resort approved

Plans to redevelop a site in Skegness destroyed by a major fire have been approved by councillors.

East Lindsey District Council backed the plans for an amusement arcade and a 10-pin bowling alley.

Bell Leisure revised their plans for the new complex on Grand Parade after objections were raised to the use of land on adjacent Tower Gardens.

The firm owns half of the fire-damaged site and is keen to start work on the new complex in Lincolnshire.

The site has been derelict due to a fire just over a year ago.

Traders in the Lincolnshire seaside town recently expressed concerns about the lack of progress in rebuilding the site.

There had been calls from some residents to protect the town's Tower Gardens park, which will now remain intact.
