Man attacked by trailer thieves

A man needed hospital treatment after thieves trying to steal a trailer from a farmyard struck him on the head.

He heard noises outside his home in Asgarby, near Sleaford, Lincolnshire, at around 0100 BST on Tuesday.

When the man went outside he found two men with a dark coloured 4x4 vehicle, possibly a Land Rover Discovery.

He tried to stop them escaping but was hit with an unknown object. The thieves drove away without the trailer, but stole a saw from the premises.

The victim was undergoing treatment for head injuries at Boston's Pilgrim Hospital. His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
