Man admits abducting taxi driver
A Latvian man has admitted kidnapping and robbing a woman taxi driver during an abduction that involved a journey across three counties.
Arvis Dikis, 26, attacked the driver after she picked him up in Grantham market place and drove him to Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.
Dikis assaulted the woman, drove her to Nottingham in her taxi, stole her takings and abandoned the vehicle.
Dikis was remanded in custody until next month when he will be sentenced.
At Lincoln Crown Court, Dikis of Grantley Street, Grantham, Lincolnshire pleaded guilty to robbery, kidnap and assault causing grievous bodily harm.
All the offences took place in the early hours of 13 October.
The taxi driver was taken to Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham where she received treatment for cuts to her head and hands.
