Fresh appeal over fire death man

James Ash's car Police in Lincolnshire investigating the murder of a 74-year-old man who died in a house fire have asked for help in tracing his last movements.

Alexander James Ash died from the effects of breathing in smoke after the fire at his home in Boston on 12 March.

Pictures of Mr Ash's white Mazda 626 car have been released in a bid to jog people's memories about possible sightings before his death.

Mr Ash's funeral took place on Friday at Skirbeck Church in Boston.

'Vital information'

"Although we believe he didn't use his car on a regular basis, we are keen to hear from anyone who saw Mr Ash driving the vehicle anywhere in the county or even across the border," said deputy senior investigating officer Insp Phil Denison.

"Information is still coming in but clearly the more we can trace about Mr Ash's movements, the better our chances are of bringing those responsible to justice.

"We would urge anyone who knew Mr Ash or saw him in his car to call the inquiry team. That piece of information could be vital to us," he said.

Mr Ash's car was taken by police from outside his house on St Leonard Close shortly after he died.
