Road collision victim identified

A woman who died following a collision involving 10 vehicles on the A42 in Leicestershire, has been named.

Michelle Allen, 40, from Tamworth, was driving a Rover 214 northbound near to junction 11 when the accident happened just after 0830 BST on 9 July.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. Eight others were hurt in the crash which involved one lorry, a van and eight cars.

A man arrested in connection with the incident was released on police bail.

Leicestershire Police has appealed for any witnesses to the accident to contact them.
