A man is in a serious condition in hospital following a fight in a Leicestershire town centre.

Officers said a group of men were involved in a fight, which broke out on Granby Street in Loughborough on Tuesday at about 1600 BST.

The 19-year-old man suffered serious head injuries and is in Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre.

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of affray. Police have appealed for witnesses.

Nearby Biggin Street has been cordoned off while investigations take place.

Det Insp Simon Shuttleworth, said: "This fight took place in broad daylight in a busy part of town and we are sure it will have been witnessed by a number of people who we'd like to speak to.
