Pedestrian 'serious' after crash

A pedestrian was seriously injured when he was hit by a car in Leicestershire.

The accident happened outside a fast food restaurant on Melton Road, Thurmaston in the early hours.

Police said the man, believed to be in his 30s, was hit by a silver Honda Civic. He was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.

The road remains closed between Jacklin Drive and Manor Road, as a result of the accident, and drivers were urged to avoid the area, police said.
