Car transporter crash closes A42

A major route in Leicestershire has been closed after a car transporter spilt its load.

It happened between junctions 11 and 12 on the A42, near Measham, as the transporter was travelling northbound.

It is not clear if any other vehicles were involved in the accident which happened at about 0900 GMT.

Parts of the A42 could be shut for some time. One lane northbound remains closed and southbound traffic is being diverted at junction 13.

A Highways Agency spokesman said the vehicles involved had now all been recovered but staff were still working on the central reservation, which had been damaged.
