Dead cats had 'horrific' injuries

Police have been investigating the deaths of three cats in Nottingham that suffered "horrific" injuries.

Three local pets have been found dead in the last month. They had very serious wounds inflicted upon them, police said.

One cat was left in a shop doorway in Mansfield Road, Sherwood, while the others were found in Cavendish Vale.

It was not known if all their injuries were prior to death, but it was likely they were deliberate, officers said.

Pc Steve Fletcher, based at Sherwood police station, said the harm done to the pets was "horrific".

"It is heartbreaking for the cats' owners to find out their pets are dead, let alone to learn that someone has injured them on purpose.

"Someone in our community will know who is doing this and why, and we would urge them to contact us," she said.
