Cash boost for city NHS dentists

Access to an NHS dentist in Leicester could become easier after an extra £900,000 was allocated to the service.

NHS Leicester City said the money was equivalent to nearly 2,800 new patients getting three treatments a year.

One third of this money has been earmarked to support dental services for vulnerable, high-need patients, officials said.

They added that every month there were about 12 NHS practices in the city taking on new patients.

Toby Sanders, director of primary and community care at NHS Leicester City, said: "Leicester is improving for NHS dental care, but access for patients is still not as good as the organisation would like.

"We are determined to make more NHS treatment available in the city for those who need it."
