Detectives link two armed raids

Two armed raids in two Leicestershire towns are being linked by police.

Late on Wednesday evening a man went in to a shop in Meadow Lane, Coalville and threatened staff with what is believed to be a gun, but left empty-handed.

Just after midnight, at a shop in Leicester Road, Loughborough, two men entered a store and again brandished what may have been a gun.

No-one was injured in either incident and police have appealed for witnesses. A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested.

Leicestershire Police said that minutes after the second raid, a red Vauxhall car was seen being driven erratically, away from the area.

The car was later found in a ditch on the A46, near Old Dalby.
