'Wartime bomb' removed from field

Bomb disposal experts have safely removed what is thought to be an unexploded World War II bomb from a field in Leicestershire.

Police cordoned off the scene following the discovery at Narrow Lane in Wymeswold on Friday afternoon.

A Ministry of Defence bomb disposal team was called in and removed the object from the scene.

Resident William Pickavant was digging foundations for a new building on his land when he discovered the device.
