No match yet for transplant girl

Eva Winston-Hart A testing session to help find a bone marrow donor for a three-year-old girl has taken place in Leicestershire.

Eva Winston-Hart from Market Harborough has a rare form of leukaemia and doctors say her only chance of survival is a bone marrow transplant.

Despite offers from thousands of willing donors and a previous donor drive, no match has been found.

Amy Winston-Hart, Eva's mother, said the sessions at the Welland Community Centre have given the family hope.

"If no bone marrow donor is found and her cancer levels are high, we might have to with a perhaps less than 100% match which would mean increased risks for Eva and she would have to go back for another transplant," said Mrs Winston-Hart.

The Anthony Nolan Trust hosted the session on Tuesday evening.

"There's just a small blood test to register as a donor," Mrs Winston-Hart added.
