New hope for disabled job-seekers

Job-seekers with disabilities are getting more help, after the expansion of Remploy's Leicester centre.

The organisation, which also helps people who have long term illnesses, has renovated its Humberstone Gate Centre in the city centre.

Remploy is the UK's largest employer of disabled people and operates 83 factories, mostly in manufacturing.

The company said it would mean more services could be offered to anybody registered with them.

Spokesman Andi Sharkey said: "When they're wanting to do the job-searching there's somewhere for them to go - rather than having to go to a job centre - they access the internet from here."

"We've got people who that are skilled in helping people back into work.

"So if they have questions about particular aspects like filling in application forms, etc, we've got people here that know how to do it correctly."
