Father's appeal over missing girl

Paige Chivers two months before she went missing

The father of a girl who vanished from her home two years ago has attended a Lancashire festival in a bid for new information about her disappearance.

Paige Chivers has not been seen since she left her home on Ashfield Road in Bispham, aged 15, after an argument.

Paige's father, Frank Chivers, and Lancashire Police officers are at Bispham Gala handing out posters about Paige who vanished on 23 August 2007.

There have been several arrests over her disappearance, but no charges.

Lancashire Police believe some people attending the annual festival could provide the vital clues to solving the case.

'Key event'

Several thousand people usually attend the community gala, which is held every July.

The aim of the weekend appeal is to "keep Paige in the public's consciousness", said the constabulary.

Det Supt Kevin Toole said: "Bispham Gala was a key event in Paige' s life and something she looked forward to and attended most years.

"She visited the Gala in July 2007 only weeks before her disappearance and there could be people at the event that unknowingly have important information about her.

"The police investigation into the disappearance of Paige Chivers will remain open indefinitely until we establish what has happened to Paige."

In May, detectives said they were looking into the possibility that the teenager could be part of a travelling fair.

She was one of five UK children whose photo featured on balloons for International Missing Children's Day.

Buses in Blackpool have also displayed posters appealing for information over her disappearance.

She was last seen boarding her bus near her home.

Paige is described as white, 5ft 5in (1.65m) tall, with brown hair and a Playgirl tattoo on the back of her neck.
